Before I Go

Good morning friends! I'm off to the airport this morning. I know it's weird but we'll all get used to it. Lucky me, I am meeting up with my friend Melissa and we'll be sharing a cab to the hotel. From there I'm meeting up with Jackie for some chitchatting!

Although there wasn't much premarket sewing, I did come up with some digital quilt designs featuring the latest Lakehouse offering, new additions to the Penelope line which will be available in the spring.

You may recognize Winter Romance, it's the pattern I used to make my PKM quilt. I really like this quilt, and I made digital quilts in several colorways because it's so fun.

So those are my new patterns. I'm going to be working most of market, and I hope to grab some photos, but there are tons of people who will be tweeting and blogging and posting, so you should have enough to keep you busy! See you when I get back! xo

Miss Match

Good morning my sweet friends. How are things perking along in your world? I'm just working on the last of the stuff that that needs doing so that I can be out of town for a few days. Usual stuff.

Got my fabrics ready for my Bloggers Block of the Month block. I used some leftovers from my quilt that were just waiting on my cutting table!

Vicki's instructions were quite clear, however you can see I wasn't quite as focused as I could be.

And OMG looking at my block I'm moritfied. You know what they say about haste. I have a MISMATCHED CENTER FOR PETE'S SAKE. Didn't even notice that till I saw the photo. And my edges are all uneven. Not cool. I'll be remaking this later, or maybe trying to disassemble one more time. Not sure it can be saved!

So that's it for this week peeps. Tomorrow I leave for Houston and I won't be back till the first of November. I'll be working with Holly at the Lakehouse booth for most of the time I suspect. Looking forward to the people and the sights!

The Calm before the Storm

So yeah, totally weird to just be lounging about before market. Yesterday Frankie and I had a nice lunch at the Nordstrom Cafe in the Valley Fair mall.

Today I'm going to make a block, it's that time again and this month's block is courtesy of Vicki, are you following along? There's some other fun stuff out there, have you seen Monica's Christmas Tree Pants quilt along? It's awfully tempting. Pretty sad my tree is without pants. Or a skirt. My friend Sherri has had a wonderful Mystery Monday series that just concluded. It's not a mystery anymore, but looks like a fun project, just in case you need another!

Now I need to skedaddle, need to press a few things and take care of some paperwork. Have a super day!

The one with the bad photos

Greetings my favorite peoples! How was your weekend? We had a long weekend, Bret worked from home on Friday so we were able to run out and have a nice lunch in Danville at Chow. I loved all fall decorating, and had to crack up over this scene right by our table.. looks like someone forgot their little doll who's sitting atop the large pumpkin.

Shocking I'm sure, the quilt top is done. Equally shocking, the fact I can't find a good spot to show it off. Too sunny...

..then to shady. Bad timing I guess. But you can see how cheerful this quilt is. I can't wait to have it quilted after quilt market.

That was pretty much it for the weekend, what about you?

Recapping the week

So how was the week for you? Slow here, especially for the week before market. I can't wait to get the go ahead to show off the quilts I designed using the new Lakehouse fabrics. Of course there's no sewing involved at all in those designs, so far the fabric is only on paper. But its lovely. You'll see.

I finally finished all the blocks. Any slower and I'd be unsewing! But it was fun, and I've begun to put the rows together. Had a nice lunch out with Elizabeth, dropped some patterns off for Alex's school house, dorked on the internet, that kind of thing. Feels weird to be so calm.

That's all the news here. What's new with you? Hope you have some awesome plans ahead for the weekend! xo

Treating myself

So what did you do with your day? I made some more of these blocks. I'm just taking it slow, no hurries.

After a bunch of paperwork, which you know, these days doesn't even involve paper but you get what I mean, I treated myself to watching my recorded Masterpiece Mystery, Case Studies. Laurie mentioned it on her blog, and of course I had to tune it. TV while doing nothing else is such a decadent treat during the day! I felt a bit spoiled.

What did you do with your day?

Getting things done

How was the weekend? Didn't plan on dropping off the map, don't know how last week just got away from me. Had a blast over at the Lakehouse Studio, including a fab lunch out in San Anselmo. Delish.
Finally finished the Farmer's Market Bag for Alex. I think it turned out cute. It's an easy bag to make, especially if you're not a procrastinator.

I cut up some of my own delicious fabric to start on a quilt. It has been hard to decide what to make. I don't have an infinite amount of yardage, so deciding what's quilt-worthy has been tough. But I really like this particular quilt that I have in mind, so I actually committed to it and started cutting.

I love making blocks.. I like making each little unit till a block is done. It's my favorite sewing.
Love the result. It's pretty cheerful. Stay tuned, I'm seriously going to get this quilt done! Soon!

Memory Lane

Yesterday the mailman brought me a wonderful package from Monica. It included a couple of pieces of her fabric, in laminate. She had said the smell of it reminded her of summer and those inner tube things we had growing up.

Indeed it does.

Markety Goodness

Good morning! How was the weekend? I got some fun sewing in, and some pattern scrawling and some prep work done on this little project. I have the last of Alex's bits of yardage for her upcoming line Leila Rose from P & B.

This pile will turn into a purse, I'm making my Farmers Market Bag for her so she can show off her pretty fabrics while she's on the go, and believe me Alex is always on the go.

In other news...sorry, there is no other news.

Rainy Day

Shocking to see something like embroidery here in PKMville! Usually I don't have patience for this kind of thing. Maybe it was the cozy rainy weather, who knows. I just sat down and got busy.

This is part of a little PKM fabric project. I've had the idea for a long time, I just kept putting it off. It's not the greatest embroidery but it will do. My wonderful yellow dot on white is wonderful to stitch on. I going to need to order a bolt before it's all gone, it's my dream piece of fabric.

Anyway it was a busy day. How about for you?

Catch Up!

Good morning! The week is just scurrying along isn't it? Yesterday I finally got around to making my Blogger's Block of the Month block designed by Sherri. It's an easy block, once you figure out what fabrics to use. You can find Sherri's instructions here.

Luckily the only points I cut missed were in that photo, but why lie, I did need to rip and restitch one of those seams twice.

Did you make a block? If not, give it a try. Or at the very least, head over to the flickr group and see all the blocks posted so far!

Have a good day peoples!

Do something fun!

I took a bit of a sewing break yesterday after a weekend of nonstop stop sewing. Time to catch up on stuff around here, you know, laundry, picking up around the house, that kind of thing. Fun and boring at the same time. The weather changed up a bit, it was cool in the morning like a real fall morning. You know, suddenly when it just seems different? Not that a few more 90+ degree days might not crop up, but they're on the way out. Not a day too soon! And rain! We had rain in the late afternoon. What a treat.

So you know Silly Lil'Doe I suspect? I was cruising her flickr page one day and saw she had a really great Lemoyne Star block. What I liked about it was that 1. no set in seams 2. the diamonds were all intact. I've seen other versions without the set in or Y seams but I didn't care for the half square triangle look for the diamonds. I like cheating, but I don't like it to look like I cheated. Does that make sense?

Anyway, I know how to make the legit stars but this looked like something I could make more than 1 or 2 of without my head blowing off. I'm not a great drafter of diamonds, so I pulled out my Art of Classic Quiltmaking book, because I knew that it had good drafting instructions in it. It's a great book for your library for sure. And there you go. I figured it out.

Of course being it's me, I didn't bother to make the whole thing, or work too hard on the matching. I was just excited it worked! Now I'll add it to my list of cool things to make.

Do anything fun?

Sew Weekend

Sew Sew Sew that's what I did all weekend. Thank goodness there were a couple of Law and Order marathons to watch! Saturday I worked with Rosie's new line of fabric (go check it out on her blog, delightful) and Sunday I worked with Natalie's, shown here.

Elizabeth cut out the fabric for me, and made each into a nice little kit, so it was sweet mindless sewing. I like that, you just sew and press and sew.. easy. This week I'll be back to my own fabric, but it was a nice break in the pace. Maybe, just maybe I'll be able to cut into my beloved yellow dot so I can finish what I think is going to be a cute project!

So, what did you do with the weekend?
