Snapshots Month 5

Hi hi good morning!!  Rev up your Alphabitties, it's May 15 and that means it's time for this months Snapshots Block, Kindred Kitchen!  I think this apron block just might be my favorite block, so far anyway!

Snapshots apron

Do you wear an apron?  Growing up my mom always had an apron on, usually one that had long ties that criss crossed in the back or that tied around the neck.. classic fifties style aprons that all the neighborhood moms wore.  I didn't own an apron again for many years, but now I use one around the kitchen for cleaning up and cooking, you know, the job that aprons do best!

This apron reminds me of my mom's aprons growing up, it's cute right?  And this Snapshots quilt is all about memories and so it's absolutely perfect! I used my cute Pam Kitty Garden Birdies in aqua and the Gingham Rings in navy, with picnic plaid for the pocket.   Every apron needs a pocket!

Head over to the Jolly Jabber to get your pdf for this cute block! Kimberly has a great video to show you how to make it, just head over here to the Fat Quarter Shop you tube channel to see it. Then download your block and get busy stitching.  We're also hoping you'll donate $5 a pattern to the St. Jude's Research Hospital, it's a great cause!

I'm looking forward to seeing your blocks on Facebook and Instagram!   Be sure and tag them with #fqssnapshots and #fqsfun so we can all see them!   You can also join the Facebook group and post them there!

Ok, today I'm in Minneapolis at Quilt Market!  It's the first day and I am looking forward to seeing all the new things!

Tuesday

Good morning!  I hope everything is coming up roses where you are!  I've now entered the pre-market-panic-zone.. not even sure why really.  Nothing seems right about my clothes and do I have all the chargers for my devices???  I NEED MY DEVICES.  Today is the trip to the salon to refresh my disguise as someone younger than I am.  Or at least someone with brown hair.

drawstring bag

Yesterday I made a little bag to surprise Holly, she has some cute pins, and they're chunkier than my little round pins so  she needed a bigger bag to tote them around with her. I adapted the laundry bag I made last summer to add a contrasting band.  My sewing machine is having a bit of a mental breakdown, it doesn't like anything but a regular straight stitch, so no cute applique.   It's headed to the shop while I'm gone.

Ok, that's about it really. See you when I get back! And if you're coming to quilt market, see you there! xo

The Monday before Market!

Good Morning.. welcome to what will be a fast paced week for a lot of us attending Quilt Market.  I head out of here on Wednesday morning, but not too early, thank goodness.  Normally I'd want to be on that earliest flight but I decided to switch things up and take a more relaxed approach to travel, and take a midmorning flight.  Too soon to tell if I'll regret that.

You may remember when I made a small camera case to hold my then new point and shoot Canon camera.  That black case seemed to make sense at the time, I mean it matched the camera, but didn't match my bag, so I had to remedy that before market. I love the aqua Pam Kitty Garden prints in my new Farmer's Market Bag, so I pulled out some more and got busy.

My friend Roseann sent me a box of happiness recently, and included, among other things, was some adorable crochet edge bias tape we'd seen when we went to CHA.  Turns out the pink is  a nice match to the PKG and it pleases me each time I open that little case to get my camera out.  Need some?  You can catch Roseann on Facebook and order it from her!

The case is a nice snug fit, and believe it or not, even without an buttons or magnets, that little flap stays put.  I can pull that camera strap out and  carry the camera that way. You ask why not a cuter strap?  Well the spot that the strap slides into is so minuscule I'm not sure I could make that happen.  I barely could get this one in!   It doesn't bug me.  Honestly.

Quilt Market has a bonus side this year, since it's in Minnesota.  Not only will I see all my quilt market friends that I see just once or twice a year, but I'll have  a week to spend afterwards with my cousin.  I don't know if we'll find anything more exciting than this guy..  or for sure this! But there will be plenty of coffee drinking and catching up.

Ok super friends have a good week! xo

My block was inspired by this cute vintage canister I saw on vacation.  Love everything about it, the cute heart shaped leaves, simple posy shape and the little scallop border it's sitting on!

I love the simple vintage style, and I feel like I captured that in my block!  I can just see this little pot of flowers sitting on the window sill of an little old cottage!

Farmer's Market Tote

Good morning sweet friends!!! How was your weekend?  It was such a nice weather weekend here, warm but not too warm, and sunny!  I sewed all day Saturday and then soaked up all the happiness outside on Sunday afternoon.  We're in for a cooling trend this week, so to me, perfect weather.  Sunny but not hot.

Farmers Market Bag

Finished my latest Farmer's Market Tote Bag.  Gosh that aqua on the sides is my favorite print, favorite color.  Of course I love it almost as much in the pink and peri and super excited for the white that's coming with Fog City Kitty.  I used my new faux patent hot pink handles from Emma Creation which are a great with the pinks in the collection!  Super excited about the handles, I think they just add a nice touch to the finished product.

Next up is a cute little coordinating camera case. I'm thinking pink.  What's on your agenda?

Farm Girl Friday

Good morning and welcome to the first Farm Girl Friday!   I'm excited to be part of Lori's farm girl friends sewing along with her new book, Farm Girl Vintage!

Farm Girl Vintage Sew Along

I hope you're going to sew along with us.  Each #farmgirlfriday  two bloggers will be showing off farm girl blocks.  There's lots of super cool people on the list so you're going to want to check in over at the Jolly Jabber each Friday to see who's sewing! It's going to be motivating and #farmgirlfun.   I hear there's even a cute farm hand  playing along!

There's lots coming your way and while you wait, check out this great video from Kimberly talking about how to use your backing fabric  as your binding!  I'm glad I saw this, I've never don't it before and can't wait to give it a try.  It's an old school technique that would be prefect for potholders!

Happy Friday my sweet friends!!
